Mooncake gambling -A traditional folk activity in Mid-Autumn Festival
Today is the Mid-Autumn Festival, a traditional festival of China. In the southern Fujian region of China, it has its own unique traditional folk activity- mooncake gambling in the Festival which is a popular entertainment activity during the holiday. The resulting combination is thrown with six dice to determine the participant's prize. The traditional prizes are moon cakes of different sizes, but now the prizes are all kinds of daily necessities. The prizes have 1“状元”, 2“对堂”, 4“三红”, 8“四进”, 16“二举”, and 32“一秀”.
Every year when the festival comes, various communities, units and companies will gather to celebrate the Mid-Autumn Festival and carry out mooncake gambling. Everyone wins gifts by rolling dice. The game is very intense and exciting. Therefore, the activity is deeply loved by the public.
In November 2019, mooncake gambling was included in the "List of National Intangible Cultural Heritage Representative Project Protection Units".
